Who is Becca Wright?
Becca Wright is a faith-driven entrepreneur. She was born in Fayetteville, NC, and grew up in Burlington, NC. She is one of three daughters (Megan Jordan Turner, Katie Jordan Rich) to Wanda and David Jordan. She graduated from Walter M. Williams High School in 2012, and then attended UNC Chapel Hill. She graduated in 2016 from UNC with her Bachelors of Science in Public Health from Gillings School of Global Public Health, with a Health Policy and Management concentration. In 2021, Becca graduated with her MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Becca met her husband, Coble, freshman year at UNC, and the two were married in July 2020. She currently resides in Charlotte, NC.

Becca was born in Fayetteville, NC, and was raised in Burlington, NC. She attended UNC Chapel Hill for her undergraduate degree, worked in Washington DC for Deloitte Consulting for several years, then moved back to Chapel Hill for graduate school. She currently resides in Charlotte, NC.
Is Piedmont Pennies her Grandma's recipe?
Yes, Piedmont Pennies is Becca's Grandma Betty's recipe, warmly known as "Grandbetty." Her dad, David's, mom Betty taught the family how to make them, a twist on the traditional cheese straw recipe, making them crunchier and cheesier. "Pinching Pennies" was a Jordan family tradition throughout the year for family gatherings and holidays.
When did she start Piedmont Pennies?
Becca launched Piedmont Pennies in September 2020 during COVID-19.
How did it become a company?
Becca launched Piedmont Pennies online direct-to-consumer on the website, piedmontpennies.com, with nationwide shipping and local "penny pickups" where customers could pre-order online and pickup from designated locations across North Carolina. Spring 2021, Becca began wholesaling Pennies to local specialty retailers such as Reid's Fine Foods, Weaver Street Market, and others. Today, Pennies are in hundreds of stores across the United States, including The Fresh Market, Lowes Foods, and Harris Teeter local sections.

Yes, Piedmont Pennies is 100% woman-owned and operated snack company based in North Carolina. The company is WBENC and WBE certified through the Woman in Business Enterprise National Council.
What awards and recognition has Piedmont Pennies won?
Piedmont Pennies was a 2022 NC IDEA SEED grant recipient of $50,000, which the company used to purchase production equipment and expand operations. In 2023, Pennies won a $150,000 grant through Wells Fargo's Beyond Open Charlotte grant program, which the company used for marketing and additional operating expenses. In 2024, Piedmont Pennies was awarded the NC Chamber's "Coolest Thing Made in NC" for the small business category.
